TOPIC: CAMARADERIE THROUGH OUTING

CAMARADERIE THROUGH OUTING 5 years, 9 months ago #10026

tHERE  is a saying that says: "All work without play is not good". I've been observing other English institutes having their occasional go-togethers and I actually envy them ( though not really that serious hahahaha). I mean employees should also have some recreations that should build solid camaraderie among themselves. Factions evolve when team play is concentrated just within the work place. Why not reserve a day or two and let both the employer and its employees go out to a near by beach and relax together?

Damn right!
I'm so amazingly clever that I often have to give up trying to understand what I'm saying.

You wish....it's all business in the kind of system we're in.  Should that "outing" ever happen...it'll be just for a day then it's back to hypocrisy for all of us...sorry, guess I'm just jaded...
We are who we are because we choose to be so.  Anything worthwhile in this world requires nothing but focus and passion....I guess I got both of those....

You're jaded? then that's true for all of us... hehehe. I think this bonding thing is just a little measure that when adopted will indeed provide a lot of positive results. I just wish that they would look through the other side. People will be more productive if they are happy with what they are doing.

this sounds cool... however, there must be a clear lay out of plan  before they call it OK .. its very easy to suggest for OUR own good and to think of all the IDEAL yackety-yacks... but lets try their shoes if they fit....

from what I know, timbukto institute is not always the same with buruguduy institute... if the pasture seems greener in the other fence, could it be that on changed perspective, neither timbukto nor buruguduy smells the same?

ok meancreek. I see that you are knowledgeable in some things. Why don't you suggest a plan. Lay it out. I'd like to solicit your advice.

We are all aware that the student's stay here is transient and programmed... 2 months, 3 months.. and the like...

Most of them have their life's agenda here...

In short, time is of the essence for them.

Since they are out clients, we also are subject to and affected by such nature.

This premise holds true if we were to use their time to be our time to recreate... This was the reason why the sports festival last year was shelved.

But if we were to spare a specific day for our recreation and that it would be outside the student's school time, some admin heads think that it wouldnt be worth the shot since there wouldnt be a cent per cent attendance anyway...  reasons could stretch from trivial to serious family or personal matter.

Even some of our fellow faculties and staff  werent quite supportive, were they?

On another case, if the implication of having our recreation means having the admin spend for us, well... let's try to look around us first, in our place of work, facilities and among others,   do you think it's practical? Are we ready?  Could we at least  say that  everything that we have here is almost first rate?

Why would an outing be such a difficult thing to do? I guess if you are teachers I believe you shouldnt do that in the midst of your working day. Having a saturday outing will be good. Get the consensus of those who wants to go to the outing and get it on. Forget about those who wouldn't like to go out. An outing isnt suppose to be the decision of the majority. It should be the decision for those who wants it. Banat bro. I guess that even if a small percentage will join the outing, it will provide a positive result. Take your pictures and put them in your bulletine board just in case you have. Then there! everyone will see your vacation and will envy you. Unless the're hypocrites who doesnt find pleasure in appreciating good things.

The admin spending for you? I guess you have to come out with a budget plan and take care of that finance. Every employer hjates dumping money for their employeres' pleasure anyway hehehehehe. Am I right?

I heard of what some teachers IN BECI did last December. They organized a christmas gig in Mainstreet and they were successful> I saw It myself. The freakin owner of the bar was happy as a mutt with all the BECI people in the bar. So I guess those organizers can keep the outing thing of your institute possible. Forget the admin, forget the people who give their lousy shit of excuses. Real people gets invovled in real good things. You can do it latrinidad!!!! suggest it man.

i'm not sure i really understand that part... are we ready for what?

as for the grass is greener bit, yes, it actually is greener in some places. PIA it is confirmed offers basically free lunch. its actually better than free lunch, they give a lunch allowance, so even if you don't eat their lunch, you get the money. hourly rate the same in the cases i've seen. of course the grass is less green at other schools. i don't think comparison is really the point of the matter. if any employer's policy is completly reactionary its pure selfishness providing only the bare minimum. but perhaps i'm getting off topic in this thread. i'll allow my other views time to fester before deciding whether to sweat or not.... as for company outing....if you pay, i'm sure they'll play. if they must pay, we'll probably end up playing basketball downstairs and eating a free 'lunch' - one hand full of pancit each...good luck if you can't manage to get a decent lunch you pay for, notification when your schedule changes, or other BASIC RIGHTS.
