It has been a prehistoric issue. This is purely for information purposes. You heard a lot of things about this topic: Are you really not working? Or they just want you to believe you are not working?
I am not a lawyer and I am never an expert in law. But fortunately, I know how to read and I understand English. According to Article 48 of P.D. 442 or popularly known as the Labor Code:
ART. 48. HOURS WORKED- HOURS WORKED SHALL INCLUDE (a) ALL TIME DURING WHICH AN EMPLOYEE IS REQUIRED TO BE ON DUTY OR TO BE AT A PRESCRIBED WORKPLACE, and (b) ALL TIME DURING WHICH AN EMPLOYEE IS SUFFERED OR PERMITTED TO WORK.
REST PERIODS OF SHORT DURATION DURING WORKING HOURS SHALL BE COUNTED AS HOURS WORKED.
You be the judge! Just remember you are not allowed to question where the company appropriates its finances. But if it is your money, I think, you have all the right. Keep an open mind... especially open eyes. Who knows maybe your CC's are rolling just in front of you in different colors and sitting capacities!
