I'm just thinking... I heard that when you pay for something it means you are a customer and they say you are always right. But does that change if there is a monopoly? Does the value of your money decrease if you have no choice?

I don't know if my observations are reliable... maybe I just ate too much sauteed sayote.

"the customer is always right" is just good customer service.

its not so much that the value of your money decreases, as it is they know they don't have to work as hard to get it. so why bother offering good service? what are you going to do? go to their "competitor"? it doesn't exist

are you thinking of any specific situation?

I have a clear picture of a particular situation in my mind... hmnnn

In monopoly... does the power shift from the customer to the seller or the person rendering service? Some people think that because you don't have any choice... they are doing you a favor- as in monopoly. You're still paying for it...

Is there any way to combat this blatant violation of consumer rights?

Definitely, it does.

Does the value of your money decrease if you have no choice?

of course.  That's an elementary battle between supply and demand, isn't it? [this tag is not a question]

Basing on your statements... Can I conclude then that there is abuse?

sounds like the good overlord (not good lord) was referring to definition #1, 6, 8, or 9. and i really hope he wasn't referring to #12 "getting into" that situation.

i suppose with privilege comes responsibilty. if the privilege is monopoly, what responsibilty comes with that? building houses? hotels? trading upward to own a full set of all the same color?

Hah? Clearly? I can't understand where I created the cloud. Abuse is a very simple word... Let's not create complications or misleads. Although I understand you... It's easier to copy and paste from the dictionary and say "Please state your conclusion clearly." than to think yourself. hehehehe. No offense po.  :

Do I need to say more? Those people are working for the company... They're are not on vacation... they are there to serve the company...
