I hate the Filipino music scene nowadays. OPM lost its identity. when you listen to OPM it's like listening to foreign music copycats (those that they sell on the sidewalk before where the singer is from a nightclub somewhere in pateros). It's like a lame cover. It's better before when you listen to OPM you will really know it's original even though they are not that good in playing their musical instruments compared to now.
i could not agree more. everything OPM nowadays are ripped-offs. a lot of bands try to pull off the punkista/rocker style but they sing about squishyness coupled with shallow lyrics and lame stage antics (i.e fist clenched with only the index and the pinky finger pointing up, constipated face with tounges sticking out, shouting 'Rakenrol'), it's all about image now. oh no, i'm not talking about queshe, but okay why not, i don't like them anyway, i mean i'd rather listen to some boybands than have them on my boombox. i don't like bands classifying themselves in a genre, masyadong generic eh, for instance yung isang lyrics lagyan mo nang dissonant tunes and heavy distortion, they will immidiately call it a rock song...good God.
by the way, the alternative scene nowadays has been watered down by a lot of poser bands who are just riding with the band explosion bandwagon. i don't want to call it alternative anymore as they all sound alike, they're nothing short of a pop songs to me only with heavy guitar riffs and complicated, heavy drum beats.
i'll just stick to the bands that i'm currently listening to, ,most of them underrated eh, like Jimmy Eat World, The Futureheads, The Strokes...
