Why do most Cordillerans like Country music?

Ada pay jay paborito da nga DJ nga OA agsau kala 'nawynteenawyn powint nawyn kowntry meejik'. ;D

Though at least it's really cool that The Doctor is with that station right now. He used to be my favorite DJ back in the LA Rock 105.9 days. Rockin' you, man.

Anyway, why do you think most Cordillerans like Country music?

I remember the joke (not mine)...

Women are like country western songs. They're annoying, they all sound alike, but if you really listen to them you'll get depressed and drink a lot.

there were black country singers... jerry reed i think is black.

still for a musician point of view... who would want to learn a song with pure major chords. modern country however is complicated musically but the lyrics still is the same... lost my job, my girl, my house, my kids now im in a bar i love drinking beer to chase whiskey coz i got friends in low places. no arms could ever love you girl. i love you forever and ever amen crap...  :2funny:

Yeah saw some local MTVs. :2funny:

But why do most local country bands have no originality? They just corrupt songs and make kankana-ey lyrics and call it a song, like 'Batawa' for example. Country needs to evolve, it seems to never change, same songs over and over.

I actually got into country once back in high school when I got mixed up with country-loving classmates. Even went to some of their concerts. :2funny:

i just noticed that local country songs (no offense) have no originality.

1. batawa = melody is the same as one of john denver's song

just observe and listen to old country songs the melodies are the same

They just kinda revived it but in igorot version, mas orig bassit met a not like those filipino pop stars, they just keep reviving to get audience and sell copies, lyrics and arrangement ket thesame met lang. and for me to those country artists, since country music is not ours, they might think its a sign of respect, ngem ado met ti orig in country form like Elmer Hull(gingined), Brian Aliping, Arthur Mosawan,Jonathan and Benson(estudyante),some songs of jeff abul(montanios ay nagan),or Lourdes Fangki and others.

Of course we have our local Igorot Artists in different genre like AGI, Pe'Tune and Badjao.

Yes though I'm curious if they have permission to use those copyrighted compositions.

I remember hearing that 'gingined' song. It like stuck in my mind and become my classic example of funny (no offense) ethnic songs. Giiingiiiineeeeeed!

i beg to differ...

every genre of music deals with the same issues, sex, love, separation, adultery, etc.

country music only deals with it very discretely...
examples.

1. hard to be faithful - read between the lines
2. hard to belong to someone else when the right one comes along
3. i love this bar
4. i got seven women on my mind

peace

Yeah it's all about preference. To me the thought of listening only to wholesome songs about love, relationships and all that mushy stuff is scary like it could bore me to death. I think that's one of the reasons why there are real living 40 year old virgins out there. Seriously, they need to reeducate themselves and stop listening to the same sappy love-themed crap over and over.

But we're talking about country music here. I agree that most of the time they only sing about love and all that mushy stuff (and occasionally drinking).
