The First BPC EB and Charity Project 5 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 5
The children are our future. I'm sure all here would agree. That's why we're thinking of doing something for the children for our first community project. But before we'd be able to do that here's what we should do based on our talks with some BPC members...

For our first charity fund raiser... since not all of us here wear or would like to wear rings, we decided to go for t-shirts this time. It's more practical, marketable and it's also good exposure for the Baguiophoria community. The color would be a shade of blue and we'll come up with several designs for all of you to choose from. We'll be posting the designs here and anyone who would like to share their own design for the t-shirt too please feel free to post them here.

We have an old friend who does t-shirt printing for a living so we'd surely get a lower price for the manufacturing of these, and then we'll just add P100 to the selling price which would all go to the charity work fund.

Enter the first Baguiophoria Eyeball event... we're planning of having it this October, the exact date next month and venue we'll leave it open for suggestions. I don't know how to put this but the "requirement" for joining would be in a form of a ticket we'd be selling at the entrance which would come with one(1) Baguiophoria t-shirt and would also cover for the food and drinks. So it would be like your ticket to having a good time meeting (and drinking with ;D) your friendly friends from the BPC community and getting you're own cool BPC shirt with a nice altruistic feeling knowing that you're also contributing to a good cause.

Those who would not be able to attend the EB but would want to support our charity fund raiser by getting their own shirts can still order them. For those who are far from Baguio, we'd gladly ship your orders to you, however please note that you'd have to cover for the shipping costs (kaya damihan nyo order para di sayang hehe).

And now the community project... we can do this 1 week after the EB, if we get enough funds by then (hoping to sell at least 100 shirts). I haven't talked to the others yet but may I suggest that we adopt an orphanage? I've spoken with an old friend earlier, his handle here btw is Procorpio, and he's a volunteer for a Lingap Center located at Wangal, LTB. He says they have a lot of needs over there aside from of course the bare necessities like food and clothing, their shelter and playground also needs painting and repairs. So I thought, why don't we do the painting and repair jobs first and then later we can treat the kids to a nice meal on their newly brightened-up habitat? Will go check it out this Sunday.

That's all for now, so what do you guys think? Any violent reactions, suggestions, or anything please let it be known here...

EDIT: Shortcut to t-shirt designs -

OK! MAGANDA yung idea na kung sino a-attend ng EB...may ticket/t-shirt...so atleast, target nyo 30 people!

ngayon..paano nyo i di-distribute yung other 70 shirts before November??

Kaya naman...kelangan talagang i post nyo yung design ng shirt then mag-order na ng mga mag-oorder!! para sa ganun malaman natin kung ILAN NGA BA ang dapat nating iproduce na t-shirts na yan!

ayos!

Now, this is as real as it gets!!
It's good that the inspection/visit to the orphanage is early so that the project can be planned. So, would there be division of labor? It would be great to have the kids involved, like painting the swing or something, well, i'll be glad if the painting job would be assigned to me..Promise, i won't paint the playground all black.. >

Great to know you guys support the idea! All together we can make this happen. :smitten:

Keep posted for more updates. We'll start working on the designs, the fund raising details, coordinating with our friends regarding the manufacturing of the shirts and the orphanage. O0

@jimili: we'll start with the pre-selling of the shirt once we have some designs ready. But as early as now anyone can order them if they want, just like what pridian did.

@gir: we'll be visiting the orphanage tommorrow to know more about their needs and hopefully get to know some of the kids. Our friend over there seems to be taken with them. Of course it will be open to all volunteers who want to be involved, maybe the kids too. 0verlord has a great idea about this, he would explain it a lot better.

We visited the orphanage yesterday and the kids were great! They're all so nice and all wanting attention that they'd get all over you if you're not careful. It's really quite an experience just playing with them, they'd make even an apathetic person care for once.

Our volunteer friend Procorpio guided us through the place and the needs of the children. The orphanage is called "Reception and Study Center for Children" or popularly known as "Lingap Center". We gathered that it's an orphanage for children 12 years old and below. All in all there are 30 children living there, 14 babies 2 years old and below, and 16 kids 3 to 12 years old. One of them, Aaron, actually spent his entire 12 years there, they say he'd soon be transfered to another center for adolescent orphans somewhere in Baguio.

Sad to say, there's nothing much the kids could do there for fun with their playground in disrepair. So that's what we're going to do. Right now the playground has a rusty slide, 4 broken seesaws, 4 swings, 1 other big swing that needs welding, and rusted bleachers. All needing repairs and repainting. We're thinking of also adding some monkeybars since the kids really liked literally hanging on their 2 tall big brothers haha. ;D

So here's a part of the plan... while we'd be working on the repairs, we'd also treat the kids to lunch while we're there. If we have enough funds they have other needs we could help in. Like baby diapers they can't seem to get enough of. They use flour sacks for diapers and they say it's only P6 each and it's reusable so we can probably afford that. It will all depend on the funds we'd be able to raise, hoping we'd get enough. O0

About the t-shirts we'd be marketing for the project, we managed to get them for P170 each with back-to-back printing, assorted sizes (S, M, L, XL, freesize), 2 shirt colors to choose from (we decided light blue and dark blue), and up to 3 different designs. So we'd be coming up with 3 designs to choose from and you guys can tell us your specifications here (quantity, size, color, and design).

We'd be marketing them at P270 each with the P100 all going to our charity fund. We hope that's ok. Anyway, we're always open for more suggestions from the community. O0

EDIT: final price
