Ubuntu 6.10, the latest version of the popular Linux distribution for desktops and servers, has been released: "The Ubuntu team is proud to announce the release of Ubuntu 6.10, codenamed 'Edgy Eft'. I have been using UBUNTU since late 2004 and had updated to their latest version 6.10 on their release date, October 26, 2006. A lot of great new features and changes had been made making it a lot better. One of the best thing i love about it is its graphics. I say its much better than Vista. 3D alone.... and the ability to rotate your desktop plus the transparency, the wavy effect... and a lot more....

the specs of the pc i used is as follows:

Memory: 512mb sdram
processor: athlon xp 2000 (1.8ghz)
video card: GeForce 4 64mb
monitor: 14" Giant (only capable of 60hz frequency)

very lightweight compared to vista's "aero"
