Recently the death penalty here in the Philippines has been lifted probably because our troubled president thinks it would increase her popularity which actually didn't. Even more stupid is that they even 'admitted' that the execution of the child rapist Echegarray was a mistake.

I think the death penalty serves its purpose, all heinous criminals are animals and deserve to be executed. IMO

Abolishing the death penalty proves nothing, doesnt even make the highest official merciful.An eye for an eye they say.

Good point, gir. I'm an advocate of the 'eye for an eye' policy. If you or a loved one has been a victim of these animals you would feel as strongly about this as I do. Heck, like most victims wish these animals never existed in the first place.

I think a punishment's purpose is to prevent the occurence of the particular act that it ought to punish. So, if such act was done, whatever punishment it is coupled with, it didn't serve its purpose. You cannot make up for the damage done. No matter what you do to the convict, the scars will still remain.

To remove a weed permanently, you must uproot it.

I think the country would be a better place to live in with it. It really serves its purpose...

Yes. Wouldn't it be nice  if they just summarily execute all murderers, killers, rapists, drug  lords, corrupt gov't officials and the like?

Yes. Our country needs this. If strictly implemented i am 100% sure crime rate would go flat to 0 or atleast almost 0.  ;D

IT'S the emotion speaking....you all know that death penalty is not the solution to the problem....war, crime, hunger will always be here...

you are definitely right but it would help in the decrease of crime rate.. someone would not think of doing crime as a solution to feed his hunger or to supply for his needs because the first thing he/she will think is she wants to live.... 

i dont think that death penalty can help in decreasing the crime....ohhh c'mon kabsat in r present situation u cant tell it...... its shld be the gov't will do something to help the peepz by giving some works specially to those who r in the lansangan...

ok you got a point... we all know the main reason for this "kahirapan" it's not mainly the goverments fault, not also our fault... its we and the government.. i hope this would not go off topic but my aswer was mainly on the effect of death penalty.. anyways we have our own opinions and views.. now let them out... this will lead us to one answer...
